Shipping container homes are gaining in popularity nowadays. Besides trendiness, interest in container homes is also part of a wider interest in saving money with a prefabricated house and creating an eco-friendly housing solution.

For our client, lower costs and shorter construction time are unquestionably their biggest consideration. For us, playing with giant blocks has a definite appeal! This was a fun project indeed.

This project used five recycled 40ft High Cube containers, stacked in a split-level arrangement. Shipping containers modular forms potentially create a monotonous space. Thus, the split-level stacking creates a unique spatial experience.

The split-level arrangement also creates a more compact and intimate living experience, bringing each family member closer together. Moreover, the combination of stairs ‘force’ users to keep active and stay fit in this modern sedentary life.
